A lot of people suffer from issues that stem out of bloating. This can be triggered through stress, lack of digestive enzymes, food sensitivities and various other causes as well.

The good news is that there are a tonne of things that you can do to fight and we have listed them below for you.

Eat Mindfully
For those of you who are unaware about the two parts of the nervous system and how it plays a role in your digestive health, read on. The first part of the nervous system is the ‘the Sympathetic’ which regulates the ‘fight or flight’ response, and the second part is ‘the parasympathetic’ which works the ‘rest and digest’ function. In order to ensure that the food is digested properly, we have to follow a relaxed state – which means that the sympathetic part should not be in dominance. The job of digestion is huge and in order for the parasympathetic part to perform its function, we must be at rest.

Fermented Foods
When foods go through the process of lactofermentation, they become rich in omega-3s, B Vitamins and other strains of probiotics. When we consume a lot of sugar, processed foods or alcohol, bad and good bacteria tend to become imbalanced.

The system needs help – and you can do so by consuming fermented foods such as khimchee, yogurt, fermented vegetables and sauerkraut. These will introduce live bacteria in to the system that helps in providing balance needed for optimum digestion.

However, some people may experience flatulence or bloating with these foods, so they need to be introduced slowly and mindfully.

Fiber
Consuming fiber will help your system fight bloating by assisting bowel function and digestion. Consume fiber in the form of vegetable, fruits and wholegrains.

Food Sensitivities and Intolerances
Be mindful about what you eat. While some foods may suit your system, others may not. Identify and keep an eye out for foods that you may be allergic or sensitive to and avoid them.

Hydration
Aim to consume at least 2.5 ltrs. of water in a day. Adequate water consumption helps in improving the overall health of your digestive system by aiding bowel function and by flushing out toxins.

Mental Health
A bad state of mind can trigger poor digestive health and lead to a host of health issues and bloating. Lead a happy life, meditate and try and stay relaxed for good digestion and good health.
